Our Kids at the Rainbow Bridge

Below are some of the most wonderful companions we've ever had.  We miss them
all terribly no matter how long they've been gone.

Tiki

Tiki was our last Basenji.  We've had 4 of them.  He was, by far, the most different dog we've
ever had.  Very aloof, distant, a very cool dude, and the funniest guy you could imagine.  He
was highly intelligent and you could just about see him think and figure things out.  We were
his slaves for 10 years, and was about 12 years old when he died.  He came to us through
Basenji rescue.  In the picture below, you can see why we referred to him as "the curly tailed devil". <G>

Little Beag

Little Beag was the most darling little girl.  She weighed maybe 14 pounds soaking wet.  A dwarf Beagle, she was head of the house, lording it over the big guys.  Nobody messed with Little Beag.  If she wanted to lie down in the chair you were sitting in, she'd go to the door asking to go out.  Then when you got out of the chair to open the door for her, she'd zip up into the chair!  Quite a little girl she was.

Max, Little Beag & Snoopy

From top to bottom we have Max, Little Beag and Snoopy who are all together at the Bridge.  Max was Bob's heart and soul dog and Snoopy was Lois' heart and soul dog.  Both are still very much in their hearts and do visit every once in a while.

Marty

Marty was our White-eyed Conure parrot who provided us with many, many laughs!!  He was a real clown.  He had full use of the livingroom for flying around and actually potty-trained himself and didn't mess away from his cage.  A smart one, he was.  He loved to sit up in the sky-light and watch the birds outside fly by, and also loved to climb up and down the chain to the ceiling fan, which is where he is in this picture.  Also, he used to ride the paddles of the ceiling fan.

Marty and Ginger

Marty was fearless, even with the dogs and cats.  Here he toys with Ginger the cat, when Ginger wanted a close-up look at Marty.  He'd let her get just so close, then scoot up the cage out of reach.  Talk about playing a game of "cat and mouse". <G>

Ginger

Ginger was a happy-go-lucky cat who loved everybody.  A very affectionate cat  She even liked the dogs

Magic

Magic was with us a long time.  She started life as a wild barn cat on a farm, but quickly took to the good life as a family pet.  We got her when the kids were small, and she put up with them and loved them.  A good hunter, she liked to catch mice or baby rabbits and bring them in the house and offer them to us as gifts. <G>

Bo

Bo was a Beagle Hound mix who came to us as a foster dog for Caring For Creatures.  He had been hit by a truck and left along-side the road when Mary Birkholz, of CFC, picked him up and took him to the emergency vet.  Many dollars were spent on repairing his broken leg, with a rod and 4 pins holding it together.  He needed post-operative care, so he came here to be with us.  Once here, we just had to adopt him as he was the sweetest, most laid-back dog you'd ever meet.  He was with us for about 12 years, and died at age 14 or so.  He was a wonderful companion.

Krysta

Krysta was a Norwegian Elkhound.  We had previously had an Elkhound named Trilla and we loved her and the breed so much, that we decided we wanted another one.  Krysta made the trip down here to VA from CT with us along with a couple of other animals and adapted quickly.  She was alpha dog until Little Beag came along.  Then Little Beag took over the job as boss of the house. <G>

Tiki and Krysta

Krysta used to like to bury her nose in the snow.  Being a thick-furred dog, she LOVED the snow.

Barty

Barty was a Pointer.  To save his life at the SPCA shelter, I adopted him for a man I worked with at the time, who wanted him but couldn't take him as he was supposed to be building a house.  Needless to say, the guy never built his house and then didn't want him.  So he became ours.  He was a big ol' clown and was a laugh a minute.
